In this acclaimed adaptation, Oscar-winning actor Tim Robbins narrates Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, a tale set in a bleak, dystopian future.
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, literature is on the verge of extinction and television rules. His job is to destroy the most illegal of goods, the printed book, as well as their hiding places. Every day, Montag goes back to his boring life and wife Mildred, who spends all day watching television. He is unaffected by the destruction and ruin he causes. As he meets Clarisse, an eccentric young neighbor, he is introduced to a past where fear wasn’t common and a present where people saw the world based on the ideas in books as opposed to the mindless chatter of television. Montag begins to question everything he has ever known after Mildred attempts suicide and Clarisse mysteriously disappears. When the fireman’s pilfering is discovered, he has to flee for his life.
